500-piece Jigsaw Puzzle - Nomenclature of Colours

A beautifully colourful puzzle with a story behind it.

A brilliant Christmas gift for puzzle lovers, design enthusiasts and anyone fascinated by colour, this striking 500-piece Nomenclature of Colours jigsaw puzzle takes its inspiration from a remarkable piece of Victorian natural history.

The design is based on ornithologist Robert Ridgway’s pioneering 1886 colour reference guide, originally created to help standardise the description of colours found in birds and the natural world.

Hundreds of vintage colour swatches run from soft mineral blues and earthy ochres to vivid crimsons, creating a puzzle that’s both satisfying to complete and rather lovely to look at.

Presented in a beautifully designed keepsake box, it makes an unusual and thoughtful Christmas present, particularly for artists, designers, creatives, history buffs and dedicated puzzlers.

Perfect for those gloriously slow days between Christmas and New Year when nobody quite knows what day it is.
