Yngve Ekström 'Mingo' Circle Chairs for Swedese — Reupholstered Pair, Sweden c.1960s

A rare matching pair of Circle chairs by Swedish designer Yngve Ekström, produced by Swedese in the 1960s. One of the most quietly enduring silhouettes of Scandinavian modernism — compact, sculptural, and supremely comfortable.

These two chairs retain their original beech frames, professionally reupholstered in a rich mustard-yellow weave fabric that makes a bold, considered contrast against the black painted frames. The new upholstery is fully fire retardant and compliant with UK regulations. The frames carry the light marks and honest patina you'd expect from six decades of life — nothing that diminishes the piece, everything that gives it character.
