Discover the enchanting "Multicolour Sailor Boy Cushion" by renowned textile artist Nigel Graham Cheney. This exquisite 46cm x 46cm cushion showcases four decades of artistic mastery, featuring a charming sailor boy design that captures both whimsy and sophistication. Crafted with meticulous attention to sustainability, each cushion is printed on premium 100% cotton fabric using environmentally sound processes by reputable UK printers. Nigel's narrative-driven artwork transforms your living space into a gallery, where vintage fabrics are lovingly repurposed to escape landfill whilst creating something truly unique. From his Market Harborough studio, this former NCAD Dublin lecturer combines traditional hand and machine stitching techniques with digitally manipulated original imagery, resulting in a decorative piece that's as much a conversation starter as it is a comfort essential. Perfect for those who appreciate artisanal craftsmanship, sustainable design, and the timeless appeal of maritime-inspired décor.

Nigel has spent over 40 years working across all forms of textile art and design, with his work exhibited widely across Europe—including the poignant “Tour of Duty” in 2018. A former lecturer at NCAD in Dublin for 25 years, Nigel now creates original artworks on paper and cloth from his studio in Market Harborough, combining hand and machine stitching with digital manipulation to craft unique textile pieces.

Every piece is a slow, considered labour of love—sustainably produced using premium fabrics printed in the UK with environmentally sound methods. Vintage materials are carefully sourced to avoid waste, and Nigel's work is often inspired by narrative, history, and the natural world. Birds, animals, and flowers frequently feature, and there are opportunities for commissions incorporating specific species or even custom pet portraits.
